Fire Insulation

Tested and approved: comprehensive fire insulation system for building drainage

Fire insulation is also a hot topic in the building drainage sector. While the building regulations of the individual federal states of Germany may vary slightly, we always recommend using firewalls with the correct classification. The Dallmer Fire Insulation System offers planners and tradespeople an easy-to-install solution that has full building authority approval and covers all relevant areas of building drainage.

If a building is on fire, pipe penetrations between floors can be particularly problematic, as they allow the fire and smoke to spread quickly to other floors. Within the context of preventive fire insulation, drains with vertical outlets are regarded as pipe feed-throughs that require sealing off. The same applies to flat roof drains where DIN 18234 applies.

Flexible

The Dallmer fire insulation product range covers all relevant areas of building drainage: plastic and cast-iron floor drains, SML connections, shower drains, car park and flat roof drains. All systems have full building authority approval and guarantee fire insulation R 30 - R 120, and in the case of roof drains, R 30 - R 90. This requires pipe bushing that can withstand fire for 120 / 90 minutes, which includes classes F 30, F 60 and F 90. In order to achieve this level of safety, the drain is combined with a special fireproofing shell element. This modular structure (see image) enables many options: fire insulation for all sealing types, such as thin mortar bed, bitumen and different structures, which can be combined with a wide range of additional fittings, such as designer cover plates. The assembly system also includes a sound insulation collar that separates the drain body from the main building structure, thus preventing any structure-borne sound.

Functional reliability

The fireproofing shell element comprises a metal housing that is lined with a swelling agent. This agent swells very quickly at temperatures in excess of 150° Celsius, increasing its volume by up to 20 times and sealing off the ceiling feed-through, thus preventing the spread of fire or fumes at this point. No further structural conditions, such as minimum false ceiling dimensions, are required.

Tool-free installation

Installation requires no tools and couldn't be easier: the fire insulation element is mounted in a core drilling and filled in at the sides. No lower formwork is required as a fan-like collar prevents the filler falling through. Once the drain body is inserted, the drain area is fully fireproofed. As an alternative to core drilling, the Dallmer product range includes ceiling feed-throughs that can be inserted prior to cementing and simply removed later.
